We help cities and people build the housing that lives between.

We work directly with municipal teams to make middle housing buildable, and we train the people who actually build it. 10+ jurisdictions across Canada and the United States. 1,500+ graduates with 551 lots in their hands.

The model

Policy Innovation We work with municipalities to analyze what their current regulations produce and identify where implementation gaps prevent middle housing from getting built. The DEEP Framework is how we do that alongside your team.

Capacity Building mddl school and mddl U give citizens, developers, planners, and housing providers the knowledge to participate in middle housing. Over 1,500 graduates so far. The education is the foundation everything else builds on.

Developer Enablement An integrated support program connecting participants with Experts-in-Residence, project review, and the tools to move from learning to building. For people ready to take a project across the finish line.

I work for a city or municipality

You need middle housing to move from permission to production. We meet you where you are. The DEEP Framework is an ecosystem diagnostic deployed alongside your team, identifying implementation gaps and streamlining the processes that sit between policy and built housing. Design, education, economics, and policy, worked through together. Ultimately, it is about getting to better outcomes, however your community defines them.

mddl U combines institutional rigour with applied delivery knowledge for the first time. No program like this exists, one that takes localized practitioner challenges, knowledge, and opportunities and distils them into a comprehensive education experience. A hundred hours, six modules, launched with the University of Calgary and grounded in projects we have actually delivered.
