He is known for his advocacy of big ideas and innovative design. Over the years, he has received several prestigious awards, including the Mayor's Urban Design Awards in Calgary (2005, 2017, 2019), the Celebration Landscapes award (2010), and the Arts and Culture – Immigrants of Distinction Award (2014). He has also contributed to the planning community through his roles on the City of Calgary’s Urban Design Review Panel (2016-2019) and the Calgary Planning Commission (2021-2022).
