Kayla Browne is an accomplished architect and developer with over 12 years of professional experience across diverse project scales and typologies. Her portfolio includes everything from custom single-family homes and mixed-use developments to award-winning restaurant interiors and transformative light rail transit (LRT) infrastructure. Kayla approaches each project with the same level of passion and commitment, regardless of its scale or budget.

In 2019 she successfully designed and developed her own single-family home and laneway project in Calgary’s inner city. She has now moved onto her next self-development project, a 16-unit mixed-market multifamily which will include CMHC affordable units. This project embodies her commitment to creating meaningful community impact and reflects her dedication to purpose-driven architecture. The affordable housing component of this development was conceived while teaching at the University of Calgary's School of Architecture, Landscape and Planning Work Integrated Learning Studio, and embodies her commitment to inclusive and sustainable housing options. Recently, Kayla was honored to be nominated to the 2025 Council Advisory Committee on Housing, where she will support Council’s efforts to advance equitable housing outcomes for Calgarians.

Kayla is a founding member and vice chair of the Calgary chapter of Building Equality in Architecture (BEA Calgary), where she champions equality and supports underrepresented populations in the architectural industry. Kayla is an active member and volunteer with CICBA (Calgary inner city builders association). She also shares her expertise as a sessional instructor at the University of Calgary’s School of Architecture, Planning, and Landscape.
