Description
C4X by Twobytwo Architecture Studio is an architecturally designed two-storey 4-unit infill development aimed at complementing and enhancing Kelowna’s existing residential communities. The thoughtful design aims to gently increase the density of single-family neighborhoods while blending into their architectural context through the use of familiar form and materiality.
C4X combines varying programme typologies to create a multi-generational development complete with four distinct ground-oriented unit layouts among two separate buildings. Two ground floor units are designed to support aging in place each with access to a private garden terrace. Two multi-level units cater to varying family sizes and include an additional and independent live / work space and rooftop terrace. The courtyard-style development incorporates a shared-use courtyard amenity space for residents to enjoy and gain a sense of community.
C4X is BC Energy Code Step 3 compliant and is equipped with HRV and heat pumps to ensure energy is used efficiently to heat and cool. The design uses conventional BCBC Part 9 wood framing techniques, with low impact and minimal site excavation and preparation.
C4X is designed specifically to suit the new MF1 zoning in the City of Kelowna and is the first available infill fast-track design approved and promoted by the City of Kelowna Planning and Development Department. The design is developed and engineered through a full set of approved architectural drawings for both Development Permit and Building Permit application submissions.
